EgusiMaster is a responsive web app designed to help users learn how to cook authentic egusi soup. The platform combines step-by-step instructions, ingredient substitution guidance, real-time cooking timers, and a visual user gallery. The goal was to create an engaging digital experience that feels like a helpful friend in the kitchen, especially for users unfamiliar with Nigerian cooking or living outside the country.
Many Africans living abroad struggle with cooking traditional meals due to a lack of clear instructions, unavailable ingredients, or unfamiliar cooking environments. Most online resources for egusi soup are either text-heavy or assume prior knowledge. Users wanted a more intuitive and guided experience, especially with the rising interest in home cooking and cultural preservation.
Project Objectives
One representative persona is Tolu, a 29-year-old Nigerian woman living in Germany. She wants to cook egusi soup like her mum used to, but she struggles to find ingredients like ugu leaves. She’s looking for reliable substitutes and clear instructions. Her goal is to cook with confidence and share meals with friends, without constantly calling home for help.
